Wales U20 Six Nations 2010

Wales U20's will be playing all the blues at Cardiff Arms Park on the following dates:-

Wales U20 -v- Scotland - Fri 12th February, ko 19:10
Wales U20 -v- France - Fri 26th February, ko 15:30
Wales U20 -v- Italy - Fri 19th March, ko 19:10

Minis/Juniors - Sunday 7th Feb 2010

Without much rugby in recent months, today represented an opportunity for the U10's, U11's, U12's and U13's to get their second round Blues Cup games played. The U10's and U11's registered good wins against Treorchy and Taffs Well respectively and the U13's once again knocked out Penarth for the second year running. Special mention goes to the U12's who registered a fantastic 44-5 win over last season's semi-finalist Brecon.

The first games for 6 weeks saw the U7's to U11's have some very good results against Dinas Powys.
The U12's travelled upto Pentyrch where a fruitful morning produced a good 41-19 win against first class opposition.
Many thanks to both Dinas and Pentyrch for hosting the games after the parks were called off in Cardiff.

Saturday 23rd Jan 2010

The Youth and Seniors saw their first competitive rugby for nearly 2 months.
The 1st's went down 9-18 against Nantymoel in a game that was all penalties.
The 2nd's lost to Llandaff North 13-21 where a good open game ensued with the final score a fair reflection of the afternoons play.
The Youth lost in a tight game to local side St Joes.

U10 - (Treorchy or Llantwit Fardre) -v- Rhiwbina
U11 - Taffs Well -v- Rhiwbina
U12 - Brecon -v- Rhiwbina
U13 - Rhiwbina -v- (Penarth or Porth Quins)

Round 2 sees the U10's, U11's and U12's draw tough away fixtures. Probably the toughest game is the U12's away to Brecon, a team they have come up against 3 times in the final at the Luctonians Tournament

The last fixture of the year fell foul of the weather with all games cancelled due to frozen pitches.

Rhiwbina Mini's made the short trip to Hailey Park to take on neighbours Llandaff North and came away with some excellent results with the U10's, U11's and U12's all going past the 50 point mark.
Meanwhile the Juniors were also inflicting heavy scores on their counterparts at Llandaff North where both the U13's and U15's registered 50+ point wins but the U14's went down 0-32 to an in-form Abergavenny side.

Another weekend of games being called off but the U7's and U8's managed to play their TAG games on astroturf where both age groups registered good wins.

The Cheltenham Tournament for the U12's age group went ahead where Rhiwbina came Runners-up, joining the U10's and U11's who also finished as runners up earlier in the month.

The U13's eventually managed to get their Blues Cup game played at Whitchurch Hospital where they registered a 5-0 win to progress into Round 2

For the second week on the trot numerous fixtures fell foul of the weather but a few games went ahead.

The U7's played Cowbridge on the astroturf at Talybont and won all three games.

Two Blues Cup games were played. The U11's had a great win over St Peters (a team they've never beaten) and now progress to Round 2. The U14's were less fortunate and went down to neighbours Llanishen.

The U12's played their second game of the season against English opposition as touring side Ravens Wood School turned up at Rhiwbina. The early exchanges showed the inexperience of the boys from Bromley in Kent and so the teams were mixed and a more evenly balanced contest then took place.

All that is about to change as this site will now host all teams. Over the coming weeks more and more Senior's pages will be added, giving the full picture of whats going on at Rhiwbina RFC.

With the parks pitches off Rhiwbina U7's managed to play their game against Pontypridd at the Talybont Sports Centre. The young Squirrels put on an excellent show to win all 3 games.

This week it was the turn of the U11's to make the trip up to Cheltenham for their tournament where they came runners up, losing to Ledbury in the final 2-1.
Back in Cardiff the U12's got their Blues Cup campaign off to a winning start with a good win over a determined Llandaff North. The U13's also had a good morning with a handsome 47-0 win over one of the best teams in the Ospreys region, Waunarlwydd. The U14's got back to winning ways with a victory over Gwent side Caerphilly and the U15's narrowly lost 17-21 to Pontypridd, who are one of the best sides at this age group.

Disappointment for the U7's and U8's who had made the trip to Cheltenham only for the organisers to call it off at the last minute due to the overnight downpour. Closer to home the U10's, U11's, U12's and U15's recorded good wins over neighbours Llandaff.
